Nnamdi Asomugha Dynamic Warm Up

How Nnamdi Asomugha Prepares for Every Workout

Nnamdi Asomugha, considered one of the best Cornerbacks in the game, emphasizes the importance of strengthening your core with every warmup. In the video below, you can see some of the moves that Nnamdi Asomugha does before every workout. Check out the move where it looks like he’s just dancing like a maniac, throwing his hips out left to right. That is a great example of dynamic stretching. It definitely looks different than the kind of stretching we’re all used to, doesn’t it?

In fact out of all the moves in this short video that Nnamdi Asomugha does, the hip stretch is the most dynamic and the most appropriate for most people to do before a workout. It’s similar to one of the moves in our Complete Dynamic Warm Up. The shots of Nnamdi doing the “moving pigeon stretch” (where he has his leg twisted out in front of him) or the stationary lunge with a twist are more advanced moves that shouldn’t be attempted by people just starting out. Even if you’re an experienced athlete those moves will really wind you. It’s also important to distinguish the movement aspect of these stretches. If he were to hold the stretches for more than 6 seconds they would be considered static stretches, but because he moves once every few seconds, they are still dynamic stretches. (Note: the video has a short advertisement before it begins).

As Nnamdi Asomugha mentions, everybody likes a routine. That way you don’t have to spend lots of time trying to figure out what moves you need to do before a workout. That’s why we created The Complete Dynamic Warm Up. It contains one of the few complete dynamic stretching routines available online, complete with video instructions and step by step illustrations. Our clients love it. When you get The Complete Dynamic Warm Up, you’ll be preparing for your workout the same way Pro Athletes like Nnamdi Asomugha and the Oakland Raiders prepare for theirs.
